LOUISVILLE, Ky. \u2013 California men’s soccer suffered its first loss of the season Sunday, falling 3-2 to No. 21 Louisville at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.<\/p>\n
The Golden Bears came out on the attack, taking the first three shots of the match before Louisville recorded its first attempt. Cal continued to outshoot the Cardinals but ultimately conceded the opening goal in the 27th minute, entering halftime trailing by one.<\/p>\n
Shortly after the start of the second half, Zach Miles<\/a> scored a beautiful header into the top corner to equalize in the 52nd minute. The goal marked Miles’ first of the season, with Cesar Cordova<\/a> earning the assist.<\/p>\n The Bears’ momentum was short-lived, however, as Louisville scored twice in the 68th minute to take a 3-1 lead.<\/p>\n Cal cut into the deficit after earning a penalty kick, with Cordova converting from the spot to make it 3-2. The Bears continued to push for a late equalizer but ultimately fell to the Cardinals by a final score of 3-2.<\/p>\n The Bears return to action Wednesday, Sept. 16, at San Francisco.
