FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 Galaxy Theatres is replacing Maya Cinemas at Campus Pointe, in Fresno, after the theatre closed its doors permanently, Friday, Sept. 11.<\/p>\n

Galaxy Theatres is replacing Maya Cinemas at Campus Pointe, in Fresno, after the theatre closed its doors permanently, Friday, Sept. 11 (FOX26).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Officials from Campus Pointe took to social media, on Saturday, Sept. 12, saying that Maya Cinemas closed its Fresno and Salinas locations. <\/p>\n

The post goes on to say that as Galaxy Theatres<\/a> begins operations, the focus is a timely tradition and adding “planned improvements” to enhance the guest experience.<\/p>\n

Fresno neighbor Janie Sustaita and her family were shocked when they showed up to the theater and it was closed. <\/p>\n

“I’m totally floored right now that we walked up and saw that they were shut,” Sustaita said.<\/p>\n

She said she bought the tickets for her family the day prior and got zero notification that the theatre had permanently closed. <\/p>\n

Audryna Petatan said she was born and raised in Fresno and that the cinema was a big part of her childhood. <\/p>\n

The company has not said why the Campus Pointe location closed or whether customers will be refunded for movie tickets they already purchased.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m kind of sad to see it go, ” Petatan said. “I was literally just here watching ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Petatan said she is not super excited about Galaxy Theatres coming in as a replacement. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think Maya (Cinemas) is way better. I mean if fits the whole Fresno State and all of Fresno, so I don’t know. It’s kind of weird to see a new theater coming in,” Petatan said. <\/p>\n

Sustaita said her family is originally from Tulare and loves Galaxy Theaters. <\/p>\n

“That is gonna be a better move,” she said. <\/p>\n

On the Maya Cinemas website, the location\u2019s movies show no upcoming showtimes.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Maya Cinemas confirmed to FOX26 the theater is permanently closed.<\/p>\n
