{"id":463900,"date":"2026-09-15T00:30:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T00:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/463900\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T00:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T00:30:12","slug":"man-dies-after-being-hit-by-3-cars-as-he-was-crossing-the-street-police-say-long-beach-post-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/463900\/","title":{"rendered":"Man dies after being hit by 3 cars as he was crossing the street, police say \u2022 Long Beach Post News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police say a man died after being hit by three vehicles \u2014 two of which fled the scene \u2014\u00a0while he was trying to cross a street in Long Beach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Pacific Avenue, just north of Pacific Coast Highway, according to Long Beach police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man in his 50s was walking eastbound across Pacific Avenue, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he stepped off the center median and was struck by a white SUV, said LBPD spokesperson Andres Bonilla.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A dark-colored sedan and a third vehicle, a 2021 Jaguar sedan, also struck the man, Bonilla said. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died. His name was withheld pending family notification.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Jaguar driver, a man in his 50s, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Detectives do not believe speed, distracted driving or impaired driving were factors in the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sunday\u2019s fatal crash was Long Beach\u2019s 34th of the year, just behind 2025\u2019s pace \u2013 which saw the <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/news\/long-beach-traffic-deaths-most-decade-vision-zero\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">highest total of fatal wrecks in more than a decade<\/a>.
