The driver of a vehicle barreling through<\/a> a bike and pedestrian trail at about 70 mph is now under investigation by police.<\/p>\n

A video showing the dangerous act is going viral, featuring the vehicle speeding along a Seattle<\/a> bike and pedestrian trail along I-90 Thursday.<\/p>\n

A white car driving on the confined path, usually inaccessible to vehicles, was spotted around 1 p.m. last week. The path, about 10 miles long and part of the I-90 trail<\/a>, is meant to connect Seattle with Bellevue for bikers and pedestrians.<\/p>\n

The Washington State Patrol is now investigating the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had no idea how the car even got on there, and I was pretty spooked because I run it often,\u201d runner Alexa King told KOMO News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Several people reported the incident to the state\u2019s patrol, but the car was gone by the time crews got there, according to the agency\u2019s account to KOMO News. <\/p>\n

The Washington State Patrol is investigating a viral video of the incident, in which the vehicle was allegedly traveling at 70 mph on the path.<\/p>\n

Investigators are now asking people for help in identifying the driver, seeing as the vehicle didn\u2019t have a license plate, according to the state patrol.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a lot of people with dash cameras, or maybe someone saw this vehicle exiting the bike path area and didn\u2019t think anything of it,\u201d Trooper Rick Johnson told KOMO.<\/p>\n

No injuries or crashes involving the car were reported. <\/p>\n

Locals that use the trail expressed shock over the viral video and added that they would be more careful when crossing the bridge. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve taken kids across it; we\u2019ve run across it, and then we\u2019ve biked across it a lot, too,\u201d Darrell Lee told KOMO Sunday. \u201cIf it was a busy day, somebody would\u2019ve gotten hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s still not a clear understanding regarding how the car got onto the path, but Johnson said that authorities informed him it likely happened on Mercer Island.<\/p>\n

The Washington State Department of Transportation was told about the incident, according to Johnson, and the organization is now investigating the path\u2019s entrances and barriers in place to prevent traffic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never seen this before,\u201d Johnson told KOMO. \u201cEven if you\u2019re not from the area, I think it should be pretty, pretty evident that [the trail] is not a place for vehicles.\u201d<\/p>\n

The car likely got onto the path on Mercer Island, and the state department of transportation is now investigating the trail\u2019s entrances and barriers.<\/p>\n

The white car\u2019s driver is expected to face charges for reckless driving if they are identified. <\/p>\n
