FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 Anonymous donor gifts Fresno Pacific University $60 million, which officials say is the largest donation in Central Valley history.<\/p>\n
University officials said the gift will provide scholarships and support current and future health care programs, including strengthening and growing nursing programs. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is truly a transformational moment in the history of Fresno Pacific University,\u201d FPU President Andr\u00e9 Stephens, Ph.D., said. \u201cThis extraordinary generosity will create opportunities for generations of students and strengthen our ability to serve the Central Valley in ways that will be felt far beyond our campuses. We are deeply grateful for the donor\u2019s belief in our students, our mission and the future of Fresno Pacific.\u201d<\/p>\n
The donor requested to remain anonymous, and the university said it is honoring that request.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want this gift to create opportunities for students for many years to come,\u201d the donor said. \u201cMy hope is that it will help students pursue their education, strengthen healthcare here in the Valley and give student-athletes the opportunity to excel in competition, in the classroom and in their faith.\u201d<\/p>\n
