A mom-and-pop taco stand is closing at the end of September after serving the Sacramento region for more than two decades.<\/p>\n

Island Tacos, located at the corner of 5088 Folsom Blvd., is set to permanently shut down on Sept. 30, signage posted on its door reads.<\/p>\n

The stand operates from the parking lot of the Folsom Boulevard shopping center, across from University of Beer East Sacramento and Trader Joe\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Island Tacos opened in 2005 and is owned by Antonio and Maria Valderrama, who immigrated to Sacramento from Mexico, according to PBS KVIE\u2019s Abridged<\/a>. The restaurant is run by the Valderrama family.<\/p>\n

The sign announcing the closure noted the owners are \u201cdeeply grateful for every conversation, every purchase, and every familiar face that walked through (their) doors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Island Tacos serves classic and inexpensive Mexican food, including street tacos for $2.25 each, tamales for $2.50 and burritos for $9, according to its menu<\/a>. The taco stand also offers a separate \u201cmeatless\u201d menu with vegan options.<\/p>\n

Island Tacos is open 9:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Mondays – Sundays.<\/p>\n
