Machine technology major, Jeremy Duncan, found a supportive community and learning environment as a proud Hornet. But it wasn\u2019t always that way. After being laid off from his job of 18 years as a sales manager and pushed into voluntary retirement, Duncan made the decision to go back to school at Fullerton College.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Duncan had not been in school since 1993, but the thought of what inspires him shaped his decision.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always been into cars, hot rods and motorcycles, and that\u2019s really what got me interested in machining,\u201d said Duncan. \u201cI wanted to learn how things are made and how I could work with the tools and materials myself. It\u2019s something I enjoy because it\u2019s hands-on and connected to something I\u2019ve always been passionate about.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

After completing his first year at Fullerton College, he realized he loved the attention to detail required in computer numerical control machining. He believes that one must be fully in tune with the process to prevent disruptions and projects from falling apart.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He also discovered a newfound love for drafting. After taking two 8-week courses with Professor Benjamen Smith, he discovered his talents in the discipline and was left with a desire to learn more.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"A<\/a>For Duncan, Fullerton College has been a place of opportunity and discovery. A proud student in the Technology and Engineering Division, he comes to class with excitement, curiosity and the motivation to tackle the next chapter of his career.<\/p>\n

Beyond the classroom, Fullerton College has also provided impactful resources for Duncan. A former Marine Corps infantryman, he is a proud member of the Veterans Resource Center \u2013 a place he frequents for tutoring, support and connection.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now working as a manager for a production facility, he looks forward to pivoting to a machining role where he can implement the knowledge and hands-on experience he learned at Fullerton College.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"A<\/a>The Building 800 seating area is one of Duncan\u2019s favorite areas to decompress, study and enjoy coffee. Like many spots on campus, this seating area provides students a space to sit, prepare for exams and feel like they belong.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve lived in Orange County for 27 years, so I\u2019ve seen a lot of changes over the years. I really appreciate being part of this community, and I\u2019m glad I chose Fullerton College. I really like the campus and the environment here. It\u2019s a great place to learn, meet people and work toward what you want to do.\u201d said Duncan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
