Sacramento County supervisors approve parking rate increases at SMF. How much they’ll rise<\/p>\n

Parking at Sacramento International Airport will become more expensive when a new parking garage opens next month. <\/p>\n

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors unamiously voted Tuesday to approve proposed increases across the airport\u2019s parking system. The plan includes a one-time market-rate adjustment of as much as $7. <\/p>\n

Under the proposal<\/a>, the maximum daily rate for garage parking would increase from $21 to $28. Rates for the airport\u2019s daily lots, which are walkable to terminals, would rise from $14 to $19. Economy lot prices would increase from $12 to $14. <\/p>\n

Additional increases of $1 per year are proposed beginning in 2028 through 2031.<\/p>\n

The initial increases would take effect when the airport\u2019s new garage opens, which is expected on Oct. 26. The facility is expected to add about 5,500 parking spaces near the terminals.<\/p>\n

County officials said the changes would bring parking prices closer to market rates after they failed to keep pace with inflation. <\/p>\n

A staff report said that even with the increases, parking at SMF would be cheaper when compared with Bay Area airports and in Reno. The SMF parking rates would also be less expensive than rates at downtown Sacramento parking garages. <\/p>\n

The proposal also establishes rates for a new parking reservation system, which is expected to come online next year. <\/p>\n

Reserved parking would cost between $20 and $34 per day for the first year, depending on the lot, with garage reservations carrying the highest rates. <\/p>\n
