{"id":464977,"date":"2026-09-15T23:50:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T23:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/464977\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T23:50:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T23:50:08","slug":"ai-safety-takes-center-stage-at-dreamforce-in-san-francisco-nbc-bay-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/464977\/","title":{"rendered":"AI safety takes center stage at Dreamforce in San Francisco \u2013 NBC Bay Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcbayarea.com\/news\/local\/dreamforce-2026-san-francisco-ai-safety\/4143023\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dreamforce is underway in San Francisco<\/a>, with concerns over the risks of artificial intelligence taking center stage.<\/p>\n<p>Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is among the keynote speakers at the annual conference at Moscone Center, days after he called for the AI industry to slow the pace of development to allow safety measures to catch up.<\/p>\n<p>In an essay released over the weekend, Amodei warned about the potential dangers of rapidly advancing AI, including the possibility that powerful AI systems could eventually threaten critical infrastructure and other systems.<\/p>\n<p>The essay followed the resignation of an Anthropic employee over AI safety concerns and a separate incident involving OpenAI agents that hacked into another company.<\/p>\n<p>Amodei&#8217;s Dreamforce appearance was scheduled before he released the essay.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Let&#8217;s make our practices better, let&#8217;s recommit to transparency, let&#8217;s invest more in safety,&#8221; Amodei said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, the host of Dreamforce, suggested a compromise.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In my view, technology is never good or bad,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s what you&#8217;re doing with the technology that matters. I think that that remains the key thing. I think that these companies obviously have to be responsible for what they&#8217;re building.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump has pushed back on calls to slow AI development, dismissing fears that AI could destroy humanity as a &#8220;hoax&#8221; and arguing against additional guardrails.<\/p>\n<p>More than 50,000 people are expected to attend Dreamforce at Moscone Center.<\/p>\n<p>The three-day conference includes appearances by some of the biggest names in artificial intelligence, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Amodei.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Dreamforce is underway in San Francisco, with concerns over the risks of artificial intelligence taking center stage.
