SAN JOSE, Calif. \u2014<\/p>\n
A San Jose Police Department officer has been fired after investigators said he accessed Flock camera data on his personal cellphone to track down a woman accusing his cousin of domestic violence.<\/p>\n
The San Jose Police Department stated that officers are now prohibited from accessing sensitive law enforcement databases on personal devices and announced plans to conduct monthly audits. <\/p>\n
“I was furious. I was furious that an officer would betray the public trust in that manner, that he would not understand how serious of a violation this is,” San Jose Police Chief Paul Joseph said.<\/p>\n
The case comes amid growing privacy concerns over Flock camera technology across Northern California and the nation.<\/p>\n
