{"id":465133,"date":"2026-09-16T02:50:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T02:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/465133\/"},"modified":"2026-09-16T02:50:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T02:50:11","slug":"ducks-sign-gauthier-to-six-year-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/465133\/","title":{"rendered":"Ducks Sign Gauthier to Six-Year Contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ducks have\u00a0signed left wing Cutter Gauthier to a six-year contract through the 2031-32 NHL season.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cWe are pleased to get Cutter signed to a long-term deal and have him in camp on time,\u201d said Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek. \u201cHe\u2019s a major part of our young core, a pure goal-scoring talent that will continue progressing into an elite NHL player.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Gauthier, 22 (1\/19\/04), led Anaheim in points in both the 2025-26 regular season (41-28=69 in 76 games) and 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs (4-8=12 in 12 games) in 2025-26. In the regular season, he led Anaheim in points, goals, game-winning goals (7), power-play goals (11), power-play points (11-8=19) and shots (285), while he ranked 11th among NHL leaders in goals and sixth in shots. He became the fourth player in Ducks history to reach 40 goals in a single season (11th instance), joining Teemu Selanne (five times), Paul Kariya (three times) and Corey Perry (twice).<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>The 6-2, 205-pound forward paced Anaheim in playoff points and power-play goals (3, tied), while he was second in assists and tied for third in goals. His 12 playoff points were the fourth-most points in a playoff year by a Ducks player 22 or younger, trailing only Ryan Getzlaf (7-10=17 in 2007), Corey Perry (6-9=15 in 2007) and Paul Kariya (7-6=13 in 1997). He trailed only Kariya for the most points through the first two rounds of the postseason.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cThis is a very exciting day for my family and me,\u201d said Gauthier. \u201cI\u2019m so pleased to be able to sign long term with the Ducks and be part of what I believe is a great future.\u201d\u202f<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Gauthier was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2024-25 after collecting 20-24=44 points with a +8 rating in 82 games with Anaheim. He led all NHL rookies in games played and co-led in even-strength goals (18), was third in goals and plus\/minus, fourth in shots (190), fifth in points and sixth in assists.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Acquired from Philadelphia for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a 2025 second-round selection on Jan. 8, 2024, Gauthier led the NCAA with 38 goals at Boston College (Hockey East) in 2023-24, tied for the most goals in a single season in program history and the most by an NCAA player since 199-00. Selected by Philadelphia in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, Gauthier scored 54-48=102 points in 73 career games at Boston College.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Born in Skelleftea, Sweden and a native of Scottsdale, Ariz., Gauthier helped Team USA\u202fwin gold for the first time in 92 years at the 2025 World Championship. He also earned a gold medal at the 2024 World Junior Championship, co-leading the tournament in points (2-10=12) and assists.
