Senior Market Day Comes to Oak Park and Oakland County Farmers Markets<\/p>\n

Oak Park, Waterford, MI \u2013 Oakland County\u2019s Healthy Oakland Partnership encourages county residents to participate in its annual Senior Market Day events this fall,\u00a0when\u00a0residents\u00a0aged\u00a060 and older\u00a0can\u00a0each\u00a0receive a\u00a0$5\u00a0coupon to spend on fresh produce at participating farmers markets.<\/p>\n

\u201cSenior Market Days help older adults access fresh, locally grown produce while connecting them to farmers markets and community resources in Oakland County,\u201d said Kate Guzm\u00e1n, Oakland County\u2019s health officer. \u201cThese events support healthy eating habits and\u00a0offer\u00a0a\u00a0welcoming\u00a0opportunity\u00a0for\u00a0older\u00a0adults\u00a0to\u00a0shop\u00a0local\u00a0and\u00a0learn\u00a0more\u00a0about\u00a0available resources.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coupons\u00a0for\u00a0produce\u00a0will be\u00a0distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and must be used during the event.\u00a0Distribution\u00a0will\u00a0end 30 minutes before the market closes. No registration\u00a0will be\u00a0necessary.\u00a0In addition to\u00a0$5\u00a0coupons for produce, a variety of resources and health information will be available on-site for older adults.<\/p>\n
