CHP finds 135 baggies of suspected meth during search of Hyundai on I-5<\/a><\/p>\nDuring the contact, the officer observed indicators suggesting the driver and passenger were engaged in criminal activity. Both occupants denied consent to search the vehicle, CHP said.<\/p>\n
The officer requested a K-9 unit, and Kings County Sheriff\u2019s deputies responded to assist. During an exterior sniff, the K-9 alerted to the vehicle, CHP said. <\/p>\n
The officer then conducted a probable-cause search and found two large plastic storage containers in the trunk holding about 55,000 pills believed to be Alprazolam (Xanax).<\/p>\n
The driver, 28-year-old Patricia Cristal, and her passenger, 26-year-old Esmeralda Cristal, both of Paramount, were arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail.<\/p>\n
They were booked on charges of Possession of Benzodiazepines for Sale; Transportation for Sale Across Noncontiguous Counties; and Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.<\/p>\n

The Coalinga Area is working hard to find those who traffic this poison within our state and distribute it within our communities,\u201d said CHP Coalinga Area Commander Lt. Matt Zulim.<\/p>\n
CHP said the case was turned over to the Fresno High Impact Investigation Team, a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area initiative that includes personnel from the Federal Bureau of Investigation; California Department of Justice; California Highway Patrol; California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; Fresno County District Attorney\u2019s Office; Fresno, Madera and Kings County Sheriff\u2019s Offices; and the Fresno Police Department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"COALINGA, Calif.
