LONG BEACH, CA \u2014 A woman who was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver and then a Metro train in Long Beach has been identified as 76-year-old Song Tate.<\/p>\n
Tate was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner after the Sept. 5 collision near Long Beach Boulevard and East 23rd Street, according<\/a> to MyNewsLA. Her cause of death was listed as deferred.<\/p>\n \n Subscribe<\/a>\n<\/p>\n Long Beach police said officers were called<\/a> to the area at approximately 8:52 p.m. Sept. 5 following reports of a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers found Tate lying on the Metro light-rail tracks along Long Beach Boulevard. She was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n Investigators determined that an unidentified vehicle was traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard when it struck Tate in the roadway. Tate was subsequently struck by a Metro light-rail vehicle, police said, while the driver of the first vehicle fled the scene.<\/p>\n No description of the vehicle was immediately released. Patch first reported<\/a> on the fatal collision Sept. 6, before Tate’s identity had been released.<\/p>\n Early reports also contained conflicting information about the victim’s gender.
