The trial continues for Bryan Tyner, who’s accused of shooting 46-year-old Antwan Bluthenthal outside a Gaslamp bar in San Diego in August 2025.

SAN DIEGO — The trial is underway for a 37-year-old man accused of murdering another man outside a San Diego Gaslamp Quarter bar in August 2025.

Prosecutors say Bryan Tyner killed 46-year-old Antwan Bluthenthal in cold blood. Bluthenthal, a husband and new father to a four-month-old girl, was fatally shot during an altercation that prosecutors say stemmed from a confrontation between Tyner and strangers in the bar hallway.

“Two men, complete strangers, had never met each other before whatsoever, whose lives intersect on August 3, 2025, in the middle of downtown, in a third-floor hallway. But their lives, as you’ll come to learn that day, could not have been more different,” said Deputy DA Jacob Carbajal

During the trial, prosecutors presented disturbing surveillance footage depicting the moments leading up to the shooting. Prosecutors say Tyner had been arguing with his girlfriend before he began escalating the situation with others, including Bluthenthal, who was on his way to meet his wife.

Surveillance video was shown to the jury of the actual shooting. Before the gunfire, prosecutors pointed out that Tyner searched for the gun he had in a satchel nearby. Prosecutors say as he turned the bag upside down, the gun fell to the ground. Tyner picked it up and shot Bluthenthal in the heart, resulting in his death.

However, Tyner’s defense attorney encouraged the jury to watch the video more than once. He claims Bluthenthal was the aggressor who threw the first punch.

The trial continues for Bryan Tyner, who’s accused of shooting 46-year-old Antwan Bluthenthal outside a Gaslamp bar in…

[28
74,76,75
post-466521","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-san-diego","tag-san-diego","tag-san-diego-headlines","tag-san-diego-news
["GET
