When a team of firefighters noticed that a disabled resident’s wheelchair ramp was stolen, they sprung into action as though fighting a fire.

A Los Angeles resident had been trapped inside her home for days and was considering crawling up the concrete steps of her entryway when firefighters from Task Force 94 came to the rescue, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Fire Department.

LAFD Cpt. Jack Baham and Firefighter Adam Corcuera led the crew in measuring, cutting and fabricating a custom wooden ramp to replace the stolen one.

The crew returned to the residence and installed the framing and plywood surface over the concrete steps. The firefighters tested the structure’s incline and stability with a motorized wheelchair to ensure stability and successfully returned the resident’s access to her home.

The fabrication was made possible by power tools donated through the Los Angeles Fire Foundation, which supports operational readiness and community service across Los Angeles.

When a team of firefighters noticed that a disabled resident’s wheelchair ramp was stolen, they sprung into action…

[27
48,52,51,47,6024,50,49
post-467095","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-los-angeles","tag-la","tag-la-headlines","tag-la-news","tag-los-angeles","tag-los-angeles-fire-department","tag-los-angeles-headlines","tag-los-angeles-news
["GET
