(FOX26) \u2014 Fresno is officially marking Dolly Parton\u2019s legacy with a citywide day of recognition tied to her long-running work to promote childhood literacy.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Fresno has proclaimed Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, as Dolly Parton Day, honoring the late singer, philanthropist and humanitarian. <\/p>\n<p>The proclamation recognized Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library, which has provided millions of free, age-appropriate books to children around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The program launched in Fresno County in February 2025 and has since mailed more than 168,000 books to more than 15,000 local children.<\/p>\n<p>Fresno officials encouraged residents to honor Parton\u2019s legacy by reading with children and supporting literacy efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Parton died Aug. 25 after a brief battle with cancer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
