<\/p>\n SACRAMENTO \u2013\u00a0For a second consecutive match, a second-half comeback was in the works for the Pacific men’s soccer program, ultimately coming up short in a 4-2 decision to Sacramento State on Thursday afternoon from Hornet Field.<\/p>\n Fueled by the offense of freshman Xavier Cisneros<\/a>, the Tigers (1-5-2) mounted a late push to claw back into the match against the Hornets (2-5), who ultimately came away with the result.<\/p>\n Cisneros notched his second multi-point performance of the 2026 campaign, including his second consecutive one on the road. Cisneros crossed in a feed on the Tigers’ opening tally and moments later rifled home his team-best third goal of the season during the second-half rally.<\/p>\n Freshman Harrison Chapura<\/a> scored his first collegiate goal, connecting on the pass from Cisneros and burying his finish in the 71st minute of play to make the score, 3-1, at the time. Pacific made it, 3-2, on Cisneros’ strike to cut the team’s deficit to one in the 75th minute.<\/p>\n Graduate student Mateus Ruiz-Hurst<\/a> had his work cut out for him on the other end, stopping all but one of his nine saves in the first half of the contest. Ruiz-Hurst was not tested much in the second half but did utilize his quick counter-attack kicks to help facilitate the Tigers’ offense.<\/p>\n The Hornets carried a 1-0 lead into the halftime break and doubled that advantage just two minutes into the second half. Sacramento State kept the foot on the gas, scoring another goal in the 57th minute before Pacific came to life offensively with a pair of goals in a span of five minutes. Senior Montgomery Carey<\/a> earned an assist on Cisneros’ finish for his first point of the 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n Despite the push by Pacific, the Hornets responded with an insurance marker late that ultimately sealed the deal at 4-2.<\/p>\n The Tigers will turn their attention to part two of their road trip, heading along the coast now to face Cal Baptist on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Riverside.<\/p>\n Stay Social
