Daruma Sushi (new ownership)<\/p>\n

Thanks to Nosh reader Tom, we learned that Daruma Sushi in Berkeley has closed. Tom noted that \u201ctheir okonomiyaki was fantastic.\u201d Daruma, which opened in 2023, also served sushi and sashimi combos, specialty rolls, and other items. A message from the owners<\/a> said they have decided to move on, but have passed the restaurant on to a \u201cwonderful couple\u201d who will \u201ccontinue serving our community.\u201d Follow Nosh for updates on the restaurant\u2019s reopening. Oeste<\/p>\n

An Old Oakland bar, Oeste, announced on Instagram<\/a> that it wil likely close in October. The post cites the high cost of running a business along with slow economic recovery. This is Oeste\u2019s ninth year in The Town. \u201cThis was an Oakland establishment built on hard work, love, support, and inspiration from the community,\u201d the post reads. The bar and kitchen has a rooftop area, and serves cocktails and food including a Sunday brunch, dinner, and happy hour. \u201cWe ask that you come to celebrate with us as much as you can these next few weeks.\u201d Oeste, 722 Clay St., Oakland<\/p>\n

Puerto Rican Street Cuisine (temporary closure)<\/p>\n

The block where a popular Puerto Rican restaurant is located suffered from a fire<\/a> on Sept. 4. Puerto Rican Street Cuisine announced on its Instagram<\/a> that the Oakland restaurant is currently closed due to the fire. \u201cWe will be closed for takeout until further notice, but we are already moving forward. We have secured a kitchen for our upcoming September and October caterings and are working to relocate our Pil\u00f3n Painting Experience to a nearby location so we can still give you the special experience we planned.
