FULLERTON, Calif. – The Brown men’s water polo team (7-1, 1-0 NWPC) won its first two games of the Fullerton Mini Tournament on Friday. They narrowly defeated Biola 8-7 in the morning before finishing the day with a 13-8 win over Fresno Pacific.\u00a0<\/p>\n
BROWN 8, BIOLA 7<\/p>\n
The Bears and the Eagles played a back-and-forth game, as the game-winning goal came down to the last minutes of the game. M\u00e1t\u00e9 Tymcyna<\/a> started off the scoring early for the Bears, scoring his 11th of the season just 17 seconds into the first quarter. First-year Roland Csendes<\/a> scored in the first as well, followed by goals from Ramzi Megalli<\/a> and William Vranesh<\/a> in the first half.<\/p>\n Entering the second half tied 4-4, Tymcyna kept the Bears in the game, scoring three more goals for a total of four in the game, his second hat trick of the season. Biola answered back each of Brown’s goals, but Csendes scored the game-winner for the Bears with 1:24 left in the game, securing the 8-7 win.<\/p>\n Dimitrios Kratimenos<\/a> made 12 saves for Brown through 32 minutes.<\/p>\n BROWN 13, FRESNO PACIFIC 8<\/p>\n In their second game of the day, Brown took an early lead in the first, as Griffin Tunney<\/a>, Mac Berry<\/a> and Jaxon Tierney each recorded a goal. Berry and Csendes extended the lead further for the Bears, as they entered the third quarter up 5-3.\u00a0<\/p>\n Brown’s offense exploded in the second half. Megalli scored again early in the third, while Tierney and Berry each recorded their second goals of the game. Tymcyna scored his fifth goal of the day in the third quarter as well. Trey Rogers<\/a>, Tunney, and Csendes extended Brown’s lead in the fourth quarter, as they secured a 13-8 win over the Sunbirds. In net, Ryan Miele<\/a> recorded four saves for the Bears.<\/p>\n Brown will take on Cal State Fullerton tomorrow (Sept. 19) at 3 p.m. ET (12 p.m. PT) before closing out the tournament weekend against California Lutheran at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT).<\/p>\n BROWN UNIVERSITY SPORTS FOUNDATION
