United Way of San Diego County (UWSD) raised $225,000 at its second annual gala, A Night United: Illuminating the Way, bringing together community leaders, business partners, philanthropists, and supporters to celebrate the power of collective action and invest in a more financially secure future for San Diego families, according to a news release.<\/p>\n
Held Aug. 29 at Eve in downtown San Diego, the evening featured sweeping views of San Diego Bay and highlighted the impact of UWSD\u2019s work to address critical community needs and create pathways toward greater financial security, the news release stated.<\/p>\n
Guests enjoyed dinner, live music, exclusive auction opportunities, and dancing while raising funds to support United Way of San Diego County\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe generosity we saw at A Night United demonstrates how deeply San Diegans care about creating opportunities for families across our region,\u201d said Rachael Orose, president and CEO of United Way of San Diego County, in the news release. \u201cIn a region where the high cost of living makes financial stability increasingly difficult to achieve, these funds will help San Diego families access the resources, knowledge, and opportunities they need to build stronger financial futures.\u201d<\/p>\n
The support from UWSD\u2019s A Night United gala attendees will help San Diegans navigate the region\u2019s high cost of living, expand opportunity, and build financial security, from strengthening foundational literacy skills and career pathways for young people to connecting families with tax and financial resources, safe banking, and coaching, the news release stated, adding that \u201cLast year, this work impacted 51,633 lives across San Diego County, helping children, young people, and families build greater stability today and create pathways to financial security for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
