\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n
Richard James Brown, beloved Husband, Uncle, Teacher and Boat Captain, passed away from pancreatic cancer. He will be remembered for his innovative teaching methods for 38 years, mostly at Point Loma HS. Students will remember \u201cAnimal Farm\u201d simulations and \u201c1984.\u201d He championed teacher\u2019s rights as a stalwart leader of their union. Richard captained yachts in Lake Tahoe, and sailing charters in San Diego.<\/p>\n
Born and raised in Point Loma, he honored his father\u2019s Portuguese fisherman\u2019s heritage and he carried his mother\u2019s devotion to God and family. He will by missed by many including his SDSU friends, nieces; Lisa Rivera, Christina Serafine, nephew Richard Hodges, his dear wife of 25 years, Christa Thurber, and her family. Memorial will be at Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church, 11:00AM on Sat.
