\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n
Our beloved Paz Richard Rocha Jr. passed away in his home on September 8th, surrounded by his loving family. Brave, magnanimous, and witty to the end, he will be profoundly missed.<\/p>\n
Born August 9th 1946, to Paz Sr. and Pauline, \u201cJunior\u201d grew to be a local sports legend in multiple sports at Lincoln High School and San Jose City College, even honored as San Jose Mercury News\u2019 Athlete of the Year in 1967. He excelled at basketball and baseball at Gonzaga University where he earned a degree in Business. He returned to San Jose with his wife, Debbie, and raised two sons, Donald and Scott. A lifelong educator, he taught business, led the cheer program, and coached basketball at Yerba Buena High School from its opening in 1971 to his retirement in 2010, fostering relationships in the community that spanned generations.<\/p>\n
Ever gregarious, Paz was extremely fortunate to cherish friends and travel and to continue his love of sports as a diehard fan of the 49ers, Giants, and Warriors. His greatest joy unquestionably was his family, especially his grandchildren, Madison, Collin, DJ, Emily, Trent, and great-grandchild, Scottie Joy. He is further survived by his siblings, Alicia, Melinda, Karen, Robert, John, Steve, but preceded in death by his brother Andy and sister Irma.<\/p>\n
