Dog-O-Rama lets the dogs out in Long Beach<\/p>\n

A Washougal, Wash. resident, Tim Rader spends half his time at his beach house on the Long Beach Peninsula. He was at the Bolstad Beach approach on Saturday Sept. 19 amidst the vendors and events taking place all around \u2014 Dog\u2013O-Rama \u2014 a three-day dog focused breach festival with competitions for dogs of all breeds and skill levels.<\/p>\n
His 10-year-old white standard poodle named Zuri led him to Sharon Reuling\u2019s dog treat booth. She was vending at the event with her organic dog cookies. It was her first time at Dog-O-Rama but she said she has sold her dog treats at other events in the area.<\/p>\n
The Ocean Park resident started her small business a few years ago when she realized she didn\u2019t like the ingredients in store bought dog treats. \u201cI started making dog cookies for my dog because I looked at the ingredients on dog cookies and I went \u2018no,\u2019 so I decided to make my own.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reuling said she \u201cexperimented for a little bit trying to figure out what kind\u201d and eventually settled on peanut butter pumpkin and bacon cheddar flavors. <\/p>\n
With two dogs of her own, a 6-year-old German shepherd and a 10-year-old golden retriever mix, Reuling started making dog treats after losing her husband. After he died, she said she had free time and wanted to stay occupied. A friend was vending at a grange and she decided to vend as well. <\/p>\n
