Koenig began this year at Double-A San Antonio, going 5-10 with a 4.60 ERA while striking out 98 against 33 walks over 121\u2153 innings.<\/p>\n
That earned him a promotion to El Paso, where he went 3-0, struck out 22 against five walks over 27 innings and held opposing hitters to a .198 batting average.<\/p>\n
The effort \u2014 which includes striking out two, allowing four hits and a walk on Sunday \u2014 likely earns Koenig an invite to big-league camp next year to see what kind of rotation depth he can provide the organization.<\/p>\n
Right-hander Sean Boyle (10-9, 5.66 ERA) struck out five and allowed a run over the final four innings.<\/p>\n
El Paso managed only a single each from right fielder Gage Workman (.507 OPS), left fielder Carlos Rodriguez (.791 OPS), third baseman Marcos Casta\u00f1on (.781 OPS) and catcher Anthony Vilar (.712 OPS).<\/p>\n
Vilar drove in a run and walked.<\/p>\n
Miguel Andujar (wrist), who has been rehabbing with El Paso, did not play in the game, nor did reliever Jason Adam (shoulder) as he was in San Diego and planning on throwing live batting practice on Monday.<\/p>\n
