click here.<\/a><\/p>\n\u201cJust the blink of an eye, everything that we own, that we worked for really hard, was just gone in seconds,\u201d said Sandra Cisneros.<\/p>\n
Cisneros said the garage was packed with nearly all of the family\u2019s belongings because they had planned to replace the flooring inside their home. The family had spent a long time saving for the project, and had moved their furniture, clothing, toys, family photos and other personal items into the garage.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt could have happened any other day, but our bad luck, that it happened the day we put all of our personal belongings and everything we owned in there,\u201d Cisneros said.<\/p>\n
The fire also destroyed the equipment Cisneros relied on for her baking and catering business.<\/p>\n
Cisneros started the business after her daughter was diagnosed with autism. She said it allowed her to care for her daughter while building a source of income for the family.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo for me to care for her, I started this little business little by little, and it grew to a point where I thought I was really stable,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
That stability was shaken when the fire destroyed her baking supplies, including mixers, pans, pots, utensils, catering boxes, decorations, tables, chairs and linens.<\/p>\n
But amid the destruction, the family found one meaningful item that survived.<\/p>\n
A Bible the couple received as a wedding gift was left intact, despite the devastation surrounding it.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything around it was charred to nothing, but inside it was intact,\u201d Cisneros said.<\/p>\n
For Cisneros, the Bible’s survival carries a deeper meaning.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt meant that God was with us that day and he will continue to be with us,\u201d she said. \u201cI am a woman of faith and I believe that God will guide us through all this and we will overcome all this.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cisneros says a short circuit is believed to have caused the fire.<\/p>\n
Now, with much of what the family owned gone, they are left to begin rebuilding their home, their belongings and the business Cisneros worked so hard to establish.<\/p>\n
For the family, the loss is enormous\u2014but so is their determination to move forward.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
