A Lake Orion man and a Roseville woman are facing charges for allegedly threatening elected officials including Supreme Court justices and Governor Gretchen Whitmer.<\/p>\n

According to a news release from the Michigan Attorney General\u2019s Office, Anthony Dekinderen, 61, of Lake Orion, allegedly emailed a Michigan-based journalist, threatening to \u201ckill the Michigan Supreme Court, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.\u201d He\u2019s charged with nine counts of false report or threat of terrorism, a 20-year felony. At his recent arraignment in 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills, bond was set at $5 million. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 28.<\/p>\n

In a separate case, Roseville resident Alicia Chocair, 33, is charged with two counts of false report or threat of terrorism, one count of using a computer to commit a crime \u2014 each 20-year felonies \u2014 and one count of hate crime-true threat, a 2-year felony. Chocair allegedly \u201ccalled the local dispatch threatening violence against a mosque and (Dearborn) Mayor Abdullah Hammoud if \u2018your people\u2019 weren\u2019t kept out of her town,\u201d the news release states.<\/p>\n

At her recent arraignment in 19th District Court in Dearborn, Chocair\u2019s bond was set at $20,000. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 30.<\/p>\n

Hammoud, a Muslim and Arab-American, is facing a federal civil rights lawsuit<\/a> and continued public backlash for alleged religious favoritism, and contributing to the city\u2019s alleged hostility toward Christians and Jews.<\/p>\n
