The threat came in around 10 a.m., according to police. Officials did not say how the threat was made.<\/p>\n

As students called or texted, parents started showing up to check on their children.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo when I got up here, it wasn\u2019t that many people up here. But as I said, I\u2019ve seen more people start to come and I\u2019ve seen all the police and stuff,\u201d said Marlinda Freeman, a parent.<\/p>\n

Long Beach police called in help from neighboring cities, including Pass Christian and Gulfport, along with the Harrison County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
Search involved dogs, FBI, Homeland Security<\/p>\n
Officials did not reveal the specific threat made. Dogs from Keesler Air Force Base and the Seabee Base searched for explosives, and the FBI and Homeland Security responded.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter a thorough search of the school and all of the vehicles, nothing was found and the school was let off lockdown,\u201d said Chief Billy Seal, Long Beach Police Department.<\/p>\n

When Freeman\u2019s daughters called about police at the high school, she rushed straight to campus.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt just kind of, I kind of broke down for a minute because I\u2019m looking like I don\u2019t, you know, stuff happens every day. So you really don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on,\u201d Freeman said.<\/p>\n
Freeman said Long Beach is normally a quiet community and that\u2019s part of what made the day unsettling.<\/p>\n

Ninth grader Maya Ropiak said being locked inside was terrifying.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was just like rethinking my life, actually yeah. I was so glad I was safe and I was hoping nobody else got hurt,\u201d Ropiak said.<\/p>\n
Superintendent Dr. Talia Lock said the district has a clear protocol for handling threats.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe take every single threat, every single potential threat as serious as if it was an actual threat and so today was no different. We just went from there and we were in really good hands with law enforcement today for sure,\u201d Lock said.<\/p>\n

Many parents waited for three hours before police lifted the lockdown so they could take their children home.<\/p>\n
Long Beach Police Chief Billy Seal said the search of the high school did not find a weapon or any dangerous device. No one has been arrested.<\/p>\n
