OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A young teen is in custody after multiple vehicle thefts and business break-ins occurred over the weekend.<\/p>\n
The Oakland County Sheriff\u2019s Office says that incidents happened in Pontiac and Waterford Township.<\/p>\n
Vehicles were also stolen during the alleged spree.<\/p>\n
The OCSO released these details:<\/p>\n
The investigation began Sunday afternoon after deputies responded to a break-in at a used car dealership on Cesar Chavez Avenue in Pontiac. They found forced entry to the business, a heavily damaged Dodge Charger and a stolen Dodge Dart.Auto Theft Task Force detectives responded and soon connected the incident to two vehicles stolen from a Pontiac landscaping company during the previous two days.A Chevrolet pickup truck was stolen from the business Saturday, Sept. 19, and used to ram through a fenced parking lot before fleeing the area. The following day, a Dodge Ram was taken from the same property and driven to the Cesar Chavez Avenue dealership.Surveillance video showed a person climb a fence, break a window with a rock and enter the building, where several sets of vehicle keys were taken. The person then got into a Dodge Charger and attempted to ram through a gate. The Charger became disabled and was abandoned with extensive damage.A Dodge Dart was then stolen from the lot and driven to a dealership in Waterford Township, where it was used to ram another gate. Detectives responded and found a broken window at the business. They and Waterford Township police searched the building and confirmed no one remained inside.The activity continued at a nearby dollar store, where a retail fraud occurred. Two additional vehicles in the parking lot were damaged during unsuccessful attempts to steal them.Detectives reviewed surveillance video from several locations and identified a 13-year-old Pontiac boy as a suspect. The juvenile had previously been arrested twice in 2025 in connection with vehicle thefts in Pontiac and Waterford Township.Less than 24 hours after the investigation began, detectives located and arrested the juvenile. A search warrant was executed at his residence, where clothing believed to have been worn during the incidents was recovered as evidence.<\/p>\n
The 13-year-old was lodged at Oakland County Children’s Village.<\/p>\n
