Tequileros Taqueria hosted its grand opening of their Fullerton location Saturday, adding a new flavor to the cluster of restaurants and cafes who\u2019ve made their home in the Nutwood plaza adjacent to College Park.<\/p>\n
The Fullerton location was one of three Tequileros grand openings held Saturday, with the other two taking place in Chino Hills and Rancho Cucamonga. At 2720 Nutwood Ave., the new Mexican street food menu was brought to the neighborhood of Cal State Fullerton.<\/p>\n
As a grand opening special, Tequileros offered $1 street tacos to customers who followed the restaurant on Instagram and TikTok, with a limit of 10 tacos per customer. The promotion brought social media and the in-person experience together, giving followers an opportunity to try the restaurant while celebrating the new location.<\/p>\n
For Fullerton resident Micheal Aragon, the promotion posted on Instagram was what brought him to the grand opening. He and his girlfriend ordered six carne asada tacos with mild sauce.<\/p>\n
Aragon was already familiar with the area, and when he noticed the new Tequileros location, he was curious about the change and decided it looked like a place worth trying.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was surprised that it actually changed from whatever it was before,\u201d Aragon said. \u201cI was like \u2018OK cool, this looks like it would be a cool spot.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Black balloon pillars stood outside the front entrance, signaling the grand opening before stepping inside. A lively blend of Latin music filled the room and welcomed customers in with everything from salsa and bachata to reggaet\u00f3n and cumbia. The playlist helped set the tone for the celebration, creating an upbeat and welcoming atmosphere as customers gathered.<\/p>\n
Inside, the restaurant had a modern, minimalist look with a black and white color palette accented by greenery along the walls. Black metal chairs surrounded tables topped with white countertops, keeping the space simple without feeling bare. A neon sign reading \u201cTe Quileros Mucho\u201d added a pop of personality, putting a playful spin on the restaurant\u2019s name.<\/p>\n
The restaurant stayed busy throughout the grand opening, with a constant line stretching outside the door, while cameras documented and reviewed the newest establishment.<\/p>\n
While the grand opening gave customers their first opportunity to experience Tequileros in Fullerton, one employee has been part of the restaurant\u2019s journey for longer than this location has existed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dayanara Flores, a cashier at Tequileros, has worked with the restaurant for three years and helped prepare for the opening of its Fullerton location. She has previously been a part of about 15 restaurant openings.<\/p>\n
Flores said that preparing the new location took about a week, with employees working to make sure everything was ready for opening day.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were pretty busy,\u201d Flores said. \u201cWe have to set up the machines, the cash register. We have to prepare waters. We just have to make sure everything\u2019s, you know, perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n
Preparing for the Fullerton opening also meant coordinating with Tequileros employees from the restaurant’s other locations in Chino Hills and Rancho Cucamonga on the same day.<\/p>\n
\u201cLuckily, we do have a whole team that came from out there to come help over here. That was pretty helpful,\u201d Flores said. \u201cWe have a pretty good team. It\u2019s just stressful because we have so much to get. The supplies, just everything. It was pretty stressful but we got through it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although preparing three locations at once added to the pressure, for customers, the grand opening was a chance to welcome the new restaurant into Fullerton.
