Real ones know that there was a time, even in Mexico, when rock en espa\u00f1ol<\/a> was considered inauthentic. The typical way of thinking: How could the genre ever be sung in a language other than English? Three Souls in My Mind, the group that eventually was spun off as El Tr\u00ed<\/a>, rejected that take, electrifying audiences at the 1971 Festival de Av\u00e1ndaro in the State of Mexico with anthemic jams sung in their own language. <\/p>\n

More than 50 years later, that revolutionary spirit could still be heard in El Tr\u00ed. The group was led into glory by founder Alex Lora at on August 30 at San Jose Civic Center, its members\u2019 embroidered satin jackets, sequined button-ups, and ever-futuristic wraparound shades glinting in true rock \u2018n\u2019 roll irreverance. \u2014 text by\u00a0Caitlin Donohue<\/p>\n
