SAN JOSE \u2013 Ivar Stenberg<\/a> will make his NHL preseason and SAP Center debut Tuesday when the San Jose Sharks<\/a> host the Vegas Golden Knights in their second exhibition game.<\/p>\n

Stenberg, the second overall selection<\/a> in June\u2019s draft, will skate on a line with Alexander Wennberg and Collin Graf as the Sharks dress a more NHL-caliber lineup that will feature a handful of other players expected to be on the team\u2019s opening-week roster.<\/p>\n

Stenberg will also play on the Sharks\u2019 top power-play unit, likely on the left flank.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just going to be super fun to play a game,\u201d Stenberg said, adding that his training camp so far has \u201cbeen good. I\u2019ve learned new stuff every day, and I think it\u2019s going in the right way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stenberg has looked the part of an early first-round draft pick so far, shining during the Sharks\u2019 development camp in June and the recent Rookie Faceoff event at Tech CU Arena.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s progressed really well through camp, and he\u2019s picking things up,\u201d coach Ryan Warsofsky said of Stenberg. \u201cYou can see the game slowed down for him. I know it\u2019s practice, but from the drills and the structure that we\u2019ve put in place, he\u2019s picking it up pretty quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with Stenberg, Wennberg and Graf, the Sharks are also dressing another potential opening-night line Tuesday with center Michael Misa, the second overall pick in 2025, skating with wingers Tyler Toffoli and Igor Chernyshov.<\/p>\n

Both the Wennberg and Misa lines have been together since training camp began last Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s probably a plan behind everything,\u201d Wennberg said. \u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019re just throwing out numbers right there. (The coaches) have an idea of what they want to see and what guys they have to play one another. Obviously, a lot of things can change; a lot of players can move spots, but I think it\u2019s good. Shorter camp, shorter preseason, so get into it right away, and right now, it feels like the lines are now looking really good.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Sharks\u2019 top defensemen will be veterans Jacob Trouba and Dmitry Orlov. Trouba will be paired with Nolan Allan, and Orlov will skate with Luca Cagnoni, who will also quarterback San Jose\u2019s top power-play unit, which also features Chernyshov, Misa, Stenberg and Wennberg.<\/p>\n

Projected No. 1 goalie Yaroslav Askarov will start for the Sharks against the Golden Knights.<\/p>\n

Sharks roster hopefuls also playing tonight include center Filip Bystedt, wingers Ethan Cardwell and Carson Wetsch, and defenseman Eric Pohlkamp.<\/p>\n

In their first preseason game on Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks, the Sharks only dressed three players expected to be on the NHL roster next week: forwards Ty Dellandrea and Zack Ostapchuk, and defenseman Sam Dickinson.
