{"id":472719,"date":"2026-09-23T05:14:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-23T05:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/472719\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T05:14:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T05:14:13","slug":"christian-community-hub-preps-opening-at-shuttered-san-jose-school-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/472719\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian community hub preps opening at shuttered San Jose school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN JOSE \u2014 A religious nonprofit is preparing to open a Christian-oriented <a href=\"https:\/\/123center.org\/#mission\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">community services center<\/a> next month at the former Downtown College Prep site in San Jose.<\/p>\n<p>The organization, operating as 123 Christian Community Center and controlled by Bay Area real estate executive Peter Pau, will host a <a href=\"https:\/\/123center.org\/#opening\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">grand opening<\/a> on Oct. 10 at the old school grounds south of downtown at 1402 Monterey Road.<\/p>\n<p>The Pau-led group gained <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/08\/21\/economy-san-jose-school-property-build-nonprofit-real-estate-develop\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ownership of the buildings and parking sites<\/a> at the corner of Monterey Road and Alma Avenue on Aug. 20, paying $12 million to buy a ground lease from San Jose Unified School District.<\/p>\n<p>The district still owns the land beneath the structures. The lease expires in 2067, public legal filings show. Commercial real estate firm CBRE arranged the deal.<\/p>\n<p>The site features a primary building that totals 75,000 square feet and a gymnasium that totals 10,000 square feet. An estimated 10 ministries will operate on the campus.<\/p>\n<p>An array of services are slated to be offered at the center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 123 Christian Community Center brings healthcare, youth sports, mothers\u2019 ministry, and reentry services together in one place,\u201d the nonprofit states on its website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/madre-a-madre.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Madre-A-Madre<\/a>, a Spanish-language women\u2019s empowerment organization based in the downtown San Jose area, will offer programs and meetings at the center, the website states.
