Tuesday was a busy day for San Jose\u2019s new professional women\u2019s hockey team. PWHL San Jose kicked off ticket sales to loyal fans on Tuesday morning and then, as if to get fans hyped for the upcoming season, it announced the signing of the team\u2019s second- and third-round picks. <\/p>\n
Ticket sales opened up for fans who put down a deposit when the team was first announced in the spring. Nearly 2,000 fans reportedly put down a $50-per-seat deposit within the first 24 hours of PWHL San Jose\u2019s official founding. While there\u2019s no word from the league on exactly how many fans ended up putting down a deposit, Fear the Fin has heard that presales will be open until Friday. After that, tickets are expected to go on sale to the general public. <\/p>\n
PWHL San Jose so far has only opened up the bottom bowl of SAP Center to fans. A season is comprised of 15 home games and the potential for the playoffs if PWHL San Jose does well. <\/p>\n
Among the players hoping to give the fans at SAP Center something to cheer about are Sloane Matthews and Tia Chan. Both players signed three-year standard player agreements that will keep them in San Jose through 2028-29 barring any major changes in the league. <\/p>\n
Matthews was San Jose\u2019s second-round pick, 16th overall in the 2026 PWHL draft. The forward played four seasons with The Ohio State University and won a National Title in 2024. She has a career 104 points (48 G, 56 A) in 161 career college games. <\/p>\n
Matthews is the eighth forward under contract with PWHL San Jose. <\/p>\n
As for Chan, she\u2019s the third goaltender under contract for the team. Chan was selected in the third round, 28th overall. Chan was the 2025-26 Women\u2019s College Hockey Goalie of the Year and backstopped the University of Connecticut. The 24-year-old had a 1.55 goals-against average in 37 appearances with the Huskies last season and finished with a .951 save percentage.<\/p>\n
Chan will join Corinne Schroeder and Abbey Levy in the crease.<\/p>\n
