(FOX26) \u2014 Measure S, also known as the Better Roads, Safer Streets Measure, will go before voters on Nov. 3.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, it would continue the county\u2019s half-cent transportation sales tax for another 30 years, replacing Measure C when it expires next year.<\/p>\n<p>Opponents, including Fresno County Supervisor Garry Bredefeld, who are part of the No on Measure S campaign, are urging voters to reject it.<\/p>\n<p>They say too much money would go toward public transit, bike lanes and pedestrian projects instead of prioritizing road repairs.<\/p>\n<p>Opponents also claim the measure would fund 120 miles of bike lanes, remove some car lanes and increase traffic.<\/p>\n<p>[RELATED] <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/local\/californias-business-climate-a-closer-look-at-the-cost-of-doing-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">California\u2019s Business Climate: A closer look at the cost of doing business<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They also question the amount of money that would go toward public transit.<\/p>\n<p>However, the measure includes funding for road and street repairs, along with other projects.<\/p>\n<p>Brooke Ashton with Valley Watchdogs and No on Measure S says the campaign has raised around $200,000 so far.<\/p>\n<p>From January through September, Yes on S received several donations. One of its largest donations was $250,000 on Sept. 17.<\/p>\n<p>Campaign leaders against the measure say they are ready with plans if the measure fails.<\/p>\n<p>Measure S will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot and needs a simple majority to pass.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO COUNTY, Calif.
