{"id":473578,"date":"2026-09-23T23:38:18","date_gmt":"2026-09-23T23:38:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/473578\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T23:38:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T23:38:18","slug":"sacramento-overpass-damaged-by-backhoe-being-hauled-on-highway-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/473578\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacramento overpass damaged by backhoe being hauled on Highway 50"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A backhoe loader being hauled on Highway 50 in Sacramento struck the Bradshaw Road overcrossing Wednesday morning, knocking loose a chunk of concrete and spilling some oil onto another vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>California Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 8:20 a.m. on eastbound Highway 50 at Bradshaw Road.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators found the bucket on the backhoe had not been properly secured and hit the western edge of the overcrossing as the truck passed underneath.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/highway50-crash.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"highway50-crash.jpg \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  The excavator that was being hauled and the damage it caused to the overpass.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                CHP East Sacramento<\/p>\n<p>The impact knocked loose a roughly 6- to 10-inch section of concrete from the structure, CHP said. A small amount of oil also leaked from the backhoe onto the underside of the bridge and a vehicle traveling directly behind the truck.<\/p>\n<p>A Caltrans bridge crew inspected the overcrossing and found no immediate hazard.
