(KGET) &#8212; A man was found guilty of continued sexual abuse of a child over a several year period, the Kern County District Attorney&#8217;s Office said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A Kern County jury found J. Armando Reynoso, 40, guilty of multiple felonies including aggravated sexual assault of a child, continuous sexual abuse of a child and lewd acts upon a child, according to a statement from the District Attorney&#8217;s office. The jury reached a verdict on Sept. 22.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a data-ylk=\"slk:Bakersfield man held to answer on charges alleging sexual abuse of girl, 8;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kget.com\/news\/crime-watch\/bakersfield-man-held-to-answer-on-charges-alleging-sexual-abuse-of-girl-8\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Bakersfield man held to answer on charges alleging sexual abuse of girl, 8\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Prosecutors said Reynoso began sexually abusing the victim when they were 12 years old. The victim reported the abuse to authorities on Dec. 31, 2025 &#8212; three years later, officials said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Reynoso forced the victim to engage in sex acts with him and repeatedly and inappropriately touched the victim. Reynoso admitted to many of the allegations during interviews with Kern County Sheriff&#8217;s Office investigators, a statement said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;It can be incredibly difficult for a crime victim to relive their trauma throughout the criminal justice process,&#8221; Kern County DA Cynthia Zimmer said in a statement. &#8220;We hope that after enduring this difficult process, this verdict can provide the victim with some sense of safety and closure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Reynoso is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 28 and faces 60 years to life in prison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
