SANTA CLARA \u2013 Brock Purdy<\/a> didn\u2019t just rocket onto the NFL scene by leading the 49ers past Miami<\/a>. OK, that happened four years ago. But doing so again in Sunday\u2019s encore at Levi\u2019s Stadium landed him the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s home opener<\/a> saw him complete all but two of his 22 passes for 287 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and no sacks, while also supplying a touchdown run and a team-high 30 rushing yards in the 35-13 rout of Miami. He completed 18 passes in a row before throwing away his final attempt and drawing an intentional-grounding penalty.<\/p>\n

\u201cI honestly didn\u2019t know until toward the end, fourth quarter, maybe,\u201d Purdy said of that streak. \u201cFor me, dude, we had two drives first half, so every play, every drive mattered. It wasn\u2019t like we went out and blew these guys out.\u201d<\/p>\n

He became the first player in NFL history to complete at least 90% of his passes, throw for at least 285 yards and two touchdowns, and run for a touchdown in the same game.<\/p>\n

His 149.1 passer rating marked the eighth time in his career he\u2019s rested the 140.0. mark, setting a NFL record for the most such games by a fifth-year quarterback and passing Roger Staubach, Ben Roethlisberger and Kurt Warner.<\/p>\n

Purdy received his third career player-of-the-week honors in the wake of that showing. The other two: a 2023 home win over Tampa Bay, and last season\u2019s Week 16 victory at Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

Purdy leads the NFL in completion percentage (80.4), is third in passer rating (125.6), third in touchdown percentage (8.9%), and tied for fourth in yards per attempt (8.8).<\/p>\n

His career passer rating of 104.9 is just 91 attempts shy of qualifying for the best in NFL history.<\/p>\n

Next up is Sunday\u2019s home game between the 49ers (2-0) and the Arizona Cardinals (1-1). Since Levi\u2019s Stadium opened in 2014, the Cardinals are 7-5 there.<\/p>\n

Purdy is 10-7 in regular-season action at home, 4-0 in the playoffs. The 26-year-old native of Queen Creek, Ariz., is 5-1 all-time against the Cardinals, with that lone loss coming in2024 and him missing last year\u2019s home game because of a toe injury.<\/p>\n
