FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Fresno Police say a dine-and-dasher was attempting to flee a Tower District restaurant when he was hit by a driver who then took off from the scene.<\/p>\n
The incident started around 9:30 p.m. Friday at Indian’s Oven on Olive Avenue and Fulton Street.<\/p>\n
Officers say a man ran off after not paying for his meal and was struck by a white Toyota Tacoma on Wishon Avenue.<\/p>\n
“He then attempted to leave, where he was chased by security and then ran into Olive and at that point a vehicle that was headed eastbound ended up striking the pedestrian and then fled,” Fresno Police Lieutenant James Rosetti said.<\/p>\n
Officers say they are looking into the driver possibly being intoxicated at the time of the collision.<\/p>\n
The dine-and-dasher was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where his current condition is unknown.<\/p>\n
Olive Avenue is expected to be closed for the next couple of hours.<\/p>\n
