(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourcentralvalley.com\/news\/local-news\/yosemite-helicopter-crash-victim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">KSEE\/KGPE<\/a>) \u2013 A fundraiser in Fresno for Valley Center for the Blind had guests \u201cDining in the Dark\u201d to understand what a person without sight encounters every day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have a chance to walk in their shoes by wearing a blindfold during several of our courses this evening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shellena Heber is the Executive Director of Valley Center for the Blind.<\/p>\n<p>Guests at the fundraiser at Fresno\u2019s Fort Washington Golf &amp; Country Club were asked to wear blindfolds during two of the evening\u2019s four-course meal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1120\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image_f5fde6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3146816\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the blindfolds first go on, oftentimes we hear a lot of chatter and a lot of laughter in the room as people try to figure out, \u2018 Do I have salad on my fork? Where did I set my water glass?&#8217;\u201d\u00a0 Heber said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut after a while, it becomes a little bit quiet; that chance to step into what life might be like as a person who\u2019s visually impaired is what makes this event truly unique.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from \u201cDining in the Dark\u201d directly benefit Valley Center for the Blind\u2019s mission to support, train, and employ people who are blind or have low vision throughout the valley.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
