SAC I-80 TRAINS ARE RUNNING AT THE MATHER FIELD MILLS STATION IN RANCHO CORDOVA AS A HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION FROM THE DAY PRIOR UNFOLDS. I HOPE THAT THEY RELEASE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THE KID. EVERYBODY AROUND HERE HAS A VAPE. EVERYBODY. AND IT’S JUST IT WAS TAKEN EXTREMELY OUT OF PROPORTION AND A CHILD LOST THEIR LIFE. THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE TELL US IT WAS ABOUT 445 ON THURSDAY EVENING WHEN THEY RECEIVED NUMEROUS CALLS FROM PEOPLE REPORTING THERE HAD BEEN A STABBING AT THE TRAIN STATION. THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS IT APPEARS THIS ALL STARTED WHEN A SAC EMPLOYEE TOLD TWO TEENS TO STOP VAPING ON THE TRAIN. THE TWO JUVENILES EXITED THE TRAIN, AS DID THE AMBASSADOR. THERE WAS A PHYSICAL CONFRONTATION THAT ENSUED BETWEEN THE MALE AND THE EMPLOYEE. FROM THERE, THAT FEMALE ALSO JUMPED IN THERE, TURNING IN KIND OF A TWO ON ONE FIGHT. THE EMPLOYEE THEN PRODUCED A KNIFE AND STABBED THE MALE JUVENILE. A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS AT THIS POINT, IT’S UNCLEAR WHY THE EMPLOYEE GOT OFF THE TRAIN. HE ALSO SAYS INVESTIGATORS DON’T KNOW YET IF THE TEENS WERE KICKED OFF THE TRAIN OR STOPPED AT THE STATION. THEY INITIALLY PLANNED TO. A SPOKESPERSON FOR SAC SAYS THEIR EMPLOYEE WAS ATTACKED BY THE TWO TEENS, WHICH LED TO A STABBING IN SELF-DEFENSE. TO CALL IT RARE WOULD BE UNDERPLAYING IT LIKE THIS IS ONE OF THOSE UNHEARD OF TYPE SITUATIONS. INVESTIGATORS ARE STILL REVIEWING VIDEO AND COLLECTING EVIDENCE. AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE EMPLOYEE IS NOT BEING CHARGED WITH A CRIME. ONCE THE INVESTIGATION IS COMPLETE, THEY’LL FORWARD THESE FINDINGS TO THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY TO SEE IF THERE’S ANY DIFFERENT DECISION MADE. RANCHO CORDOVA LEE ANNE DENYER KCRA THREE NEWS.
