The agency says it has more than 85 properties and continues to pursue projects across the region.

Williams said that Fresno Housing has grown from $101 million in assets in 2007 to $1 billion today.

Williams said rising construction costs, funding gaps and increasingly complex financing continue to be challenges for affordable housing developers, particularly as California changes how housing funding is coordinated.

“We need more housing, but the need far outpaces the resources,” Williams said. “Fresno Housing experiences that reality firsthand every day.”

Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer highlighted Fresno’s efforts to increase affordable housing production, including the creation of a housing division and a local housing trust fund. The city created its Local Housing Trust Fund in 2021 to support affordable housing and related programs.

Dyer said Fresno has seen a major increase in affordable housing production since 2021, with more projects expected to come online over the next two years.

The city is also continuing to put public funding toward affordable housing. Its current housing programs include funding for development, homebuyer assistance, housing rehabilitation and eviction protection.

Clovis Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua said affordability is no longer an issue affecting only the lowest-income residents, pointing to teachers and nurses among those facing difficulty purchasing homes.

Clovis has adopted a mixed-income zoning ordinance and is working with Fresno Housing on a planned 50-unit affordable housing project near the city’s senior center, Mouanoutoua said.

Fresno County Supervisor Luis Chavez said the county, cities, Fresno Housing and nonprofit organizations increasingly are working together rather than pursuing housing projects independently.

He pointed to the Davu Village project, a 63-unit affordable housing development created through the rehabilitation of the former Parkside Inn Motel in Fresno. The Fresno City Council approved nearly $3.9 million in HOME and HOME-ARP funding for the project in March.

Right to left: Tony Sertich, California Housing Finance Agency Executive Director; Jonathan Klein, Housing Development and Finance Committee…

[31
380,10009,151865,112,622,114,32994,113,12055,1337,10332,32215,187754,163244
post-478427","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fresno","tag-affordable-housing","tag-clovis","tag-davu-village","tag-fresno","tag-fresno-county","tag-fresno-headlines","tag-fresno-housing","tag-fresno-news","tag-housing-affordability","tag-housing-development","tag-jerry-dyer","tag-luis-chavez","tag-tyrone-roderick-williams","tag-vong-mouanoutoua
["GET
