According to a previously unsealed FBI warrant, Yohe, Lane and Burns allegedly assaulted a 21-year-old Black and Asian-American man near a beach bathroom, allegedly slamming his head into a concrete wall multiple times. The victim was later hospitalized and diagnosed with a concussion, among other injuries.<\/p>\nA short time later at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater, the same three men allegedly shouted racial slurs while attacking two Marines \u2014 one was Black, the other White \u2014 who were off duty and enjoying a night out, according to the warrant. The Marines allegedly fought back, with one of them slamming Lane to the ground and knocking him unconscious.<\/p>\n
Both Marines later sought medical treatment at a hospital on Camp Pendleton, where doctors reportedly diagnosed one with a concussion and multiple facial fractures, according to the warrant.<\/p>\n
The cases unsealed Wednesday were the result of a lengthy investigation that first became public in July, more than a year after the attacks, when the FBI search warrant was unsealed in federal court.<\/p>\n
The FBI agent who sought the warrant asserted in an affidavit that all three attackers held racist and White supremacist beliefs that went beyond the attacks and racial slurs that night in Oceanside.<\/p>\n
Matching allegations made in the search warrant, the indictment unsealed Wednesday alleged Yohe and Burns are members of a White supremacist street gang in Hemet, in Riverside County.<\/p>\n
According to the FBI search warrant, both Yohe and Burns also allegedly used passwords, social media accounts and email addresses containing the numbers 1488 \u2014 a common White supremacist code. The number 14 represents a 14-word racist phrase about securing the future for White children, and 88 denotes \u201cHeil Hitler,\u201d as H is the eighth letter of the alphabet. Burns also has the word \u201cskinhead\u201d tattooed on his forearm, according to the FBI warrant, which includes a photograph of the tattoo, and the indictment.<\/p>\n
Lane allegedly posted a video of himself on social media doing a Nazi salute and shouting \u201cHeil Hitler,\u201d according to the FBI warrant.<\/p>\n
In his plea agreement, Lane admitted that he stomped and kicked one of the victims while yelling a racial slur at him. He also admitted that he, Yohe and Burns attacked the man because they believed he was Black.<\/p>\n
Lane also admitted that he, Yohe and Burns attacked the two Marine Corps officers because one of them was Black.<\/p>\n
