LAS VEGAS \u2013 Amir Anwary<\/a> found the back of the net to lead the San Jos\u00e9 State men\u2019s soccer team (3-5-2, 0-1-1 MW) in a 2-1 loss to UNLV (5-3-2, 1-1-0 MW) on Wednesday night from Peter Johann Memorial Field.<\/p>\n

In the 17th minute of the game, the game was paused for an extended period due to glass on the field from a broken window.<\/p>\n

\u00a0UNLV opened the scoring in the 25th minute, converting a one-on-one breakaway. Just two minutes later, the Spartans tied the game when Anwary scored his third goal of the season off an assist from Jordi Tortell Daly<\/a> and sent the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.\u00a0<\/p>\n

UNLV regained the lead in the 59th minute when the Rebels converted a penalty kick. San Jos\u00e9 State continued to pressure the Rebels throughout the second half, recording eight shots after halftime, but was unable to find the equalizer.<\/p>\n

Neo Ruiz<\/a> had an opportunity to tie the match from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute, but his attempt was stopped by the crossbar. Daniel Fregoso Bautista<\/a> led the Spartans with four shots, while goalkeeper Ronin Axelson<\/a> made four saves.<\/p>\n
