(Photo by Tracey Roman, Contributing Photographer)\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" class=\"icon-enlarge mng-gallery-fullscreen-expand\" aria-label=\"Expand fullscreen slideshow\">Expand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>LONG BEACH \u2013 The Long Beach Poly girls volleyball team continues to have success in the Moore League.<\/p>\n<p>The Jackrabbits swept Wilson in three sets, 25-16, 25-14, 25-10, Wednesday afternoon and extended their league winning streak to 29 games.<\/p>\n<p>It was a lopsided contest that was led by Long Beach Poly sisters Ellie and McKennah Iamaleava.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery day we\u2019re coming to work hard in practice because our league, they\u2019re all pretty good,\u201d junior Ellie Iamaleava said. \u201cSo, you know, we have to be prepared and we\u2019re not letting any of the records have us play down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Jackrabbits (17-6, 5-0) entered the contest with their league winning streak at 28 games. Their last league loss was to Wilson in October of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s super important,\u201d Poly head coach Gerald Aquiningoc said about the streak\u2019s importance to the players. \u201cI came in with them. This is my fourth year, so when we came in, we had goals and each year we pushed the program forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This was Poly\u2019s second straight sweep in league, as it beat Lakewood in three sets Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey didn\u2019t really start paying attention to the streak until last season and then this was a big thing for them this year,\u201d Aquiningoc said. \u201cI love that they are able to set small goals that continue to challenge them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Jackrabbits jumped to an early lead in the first set against Wilson (10-16, 3-3).<\/p>\n<p>A kill by Aleeya Salima gave Poly a seven-point advantage, 9-2. The Bruins fought their way through the set but never got closer than seven points. Kills from senor McKennah Iamaleava and Alison Wetteland closed out the first set, 25-16.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe always have to be prepared, specifically towards the end of the game,\u201d said McKennah Iamaleava, a UC Irvine commit who was the Press Telegram\u2019s girls volleyball player of the year last season.<\/p>\n<p>Poly continued to dominate in the second and third sets.\u00a0The Bruins never led throughout those games.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of Wilson\u2019s mistakes, according to head coach Gersain Pineda, came from the pressure to perform against their rival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know the Wilson-Long Beach Poly rivalry is very strong,\u201d Pineda said. \u201cI think a lot of students come in here, especially ours, like scared. Of course, (Poly\u2019s) a stronger team so mistakes will happen.
