The news comes months after another man publicly accused Yekutiel of groping him at a party in 2020. Yekutiel\u2019s campaign appeared to weather the initial allegation, with many allies continuing to support him, but the new report has dropped a political bomb on the race for one of the city\u2019s hotly contested open seats, with some prominent backers revoking their endorsements almost immediately.<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">\u201cMy endorsement is a statement of my confidence in someone\u2019s character and leadership, and in light of the additional accounts reported today I am withdrawing it,\u201d Lurie said in a statement on Thursday, saying he would not be making another endorsement in the race. \u201cComing forward is hard and these survivors deserve to be heard, and treated with dignity and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">KQED reached out to each of the supervisors who had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kqed.org\/news\/12090065\/sexual-assault-allegations-against-manny-yekutiel-roil-san-francisco-democrats\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">previously endorsed Yekutiel<\/a>, including Danny Sauter, Rafael Mandelman, Stephen Sherrill, Alan Wong, Bilal Mahmood and Matt Dorsey. As of 11 a.m., at least three had rescinded their support.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/20260707_SFRally_GC-12_qed.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12090127\"  \/>Supervisor Bilal Mahmood speaks during a rally for survivors of sexual assault and harassment at San Francisco City Hall in San Francisco on July 7, 2026.\u00a0(Gina Castro for KQED)<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">Yekutiel, who had been considered one of the frontrunners in the race, did not immediately respond Thursday to a request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">\u201cToo often, people in political power close ranks around their allies to protect them from being held accountable. As an elected leader, I have a responsibility to hold my friends, colleagues and peers to a higher standard,\u201d Mahmood said. \u201cAn endorsement is ultimately a statement of trust, and I can no longer in good conscience lend my support to this campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">A spokesperson for Sherrill said he was also revoking his endorsement for Yekutiel. Mandelman, Dorsey and Wong did not immediately respond to requests for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">\u201cThe allegations against Manny Yekutiel make it clear that he has repeatedly crossed boundaries and fully lost trust, including my own,\u201d Sauter said in a post on Instagram. \u201cThis role gives power and requires care, temperament and respect. I do not believe Manny is able to take such responsibility. The voters and residents of this city deserve better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">According to the Standard, Yekutiel was at a queer dance party called Electroluxx at the Midway\u00a0when he encountered Ryan Clark. Clark said that Yekutiel groped his genitals and buttocks through his pants, according to the Standard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">This week, before the new allegations surfaced, Yekutiel removed a page of endorsements on his campaign website that previously listed the majority of members of the Board of Supervisors and many prominent Democratic elected officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">\u201cIn July, I said I would wait for the [San Francisco Democratic Party] process to run its course. That process failed to produce a final determination of what happened, and as a result, I abstained from the District 8 endorsement vote. Now new allegations have been reported by multiple people,\u201d Mahmood said. \u201cSurvivors should never have to wonder whether your leaders will minimize harassment, assault, or abuse because the person you\u2019re naming is well-connected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/250105-LurieInaugurationCleanup-51-edited.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12102359\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">Yekutiel is facing off against Gary McCoy, who previously worked for Rep. Nancy Pelosi and has the former Speaker of the House\u2019s endorsement, as well as patent attorney Michael Nguyen and former DoorDash employee Darshini Patel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">They are now mounting pressure on their opponent to step down.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">\u201cSexual assault and nonconsensual touching are unacceptable in any form \u2026 People who come forward with allegations of sexual assault deserve to be heard and treated with dignity, not dismissed or stigmatized, especially by our leaders,\u201d McCoy, Nguyen and Patel said in a joint statement. \u201cIt\u2019s shameful that it\u2019s come to this. We stand with survivors in our community and across the country. We refuse to allow someone who has repeatedly committed sexual assault ascend to a position of power in San Francisco.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">Other supervisors and the San Francisco Women\u2019s Political Committee are also joining the call for Yekutiel to exit the race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">\u201cAll the allegations of sexual assault against Manny Yekutiel are appalling, and the conduct described is reprehensible. Enough is enough. Manny must immediately end his campaign for District 8 supervisor,\u201d Supervisor Connie Chan said in a statement. \u201cSan Franciscans deserve leaders they can trust, and those who have endorsed Manny \u2014 including the San Francisco Democratic Party \u2014 should rescind their support. Our commitment to survivors and accountability cannot take a back seat to protecting political allies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">Mandelman, a moderate Democrat, currently represents District 8, which includes the Castro, Glen Park, Diamond Heights and other neighborhoods. He is terming out, leaving an open seat in the city\u2019s current majority moderate Board of Supervisors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"blocks-v1-Paragraph-__Paragraph__paragraph wp-block wp-block-paragraph container\">Ballots for the November election will be mailed out in the coming days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The new sexual assault allegations have prompted Mayor Daniel Lurie and others to withdraw their support.
