For those looking to lend a hand, numerous trusted organizations in our community are stepping up to accept food and monetary donations. There are many heartfelt ways to support our neighbors and strengthen our community. Volunteering at local food banks or community centers can make a significant difference. Even simple gestures, like checking in on neighbors who may need a little extra support, sharing helpful resources, or offering rides, can bring comfort and connection during these tough times.

It is crucial, however, to ensure that any organization you choose to support is legitimate. To do this, consider verifying its tax-exempt status with the IRS, checking ratings on reputable watchdog sites like Charity Navigator and GuideStar, and reviewing the organization’s website for transparency, contact information, and a professional appearance. Ask a trusted family member or friend. Be mindful of any groups that may pressure you to donate immediately or request cash or gift cards, as these can be red flags that you are being scammed.

Fullerton is known for its caring community spirit, and together, we can provide much-needed support to one another as we navigate these challenging circumstances. Your kindness matters now more than ever.
