Pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle in Modesto<\/p>\n

\"DanielMODESTO, Calif. \u2014<\/p>\n

A 63-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Modesto on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Modesto police said the crash happened near Claus Road and East Orangeburg Avenue between 6:10 a.m. and 6:15 a.m.<\/p>\n

The pedestrian, who was using a wheelchair at the time of the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. <\/p>\n

A preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was walking in or near the crosswalk across Claus Road when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. <\/p>\n

Police identified the pedestrian as Darrell Kostner.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation. <\/p>\n
