{"id":482642,"date":"2026-10-02T10:12:22","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T10:12:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/482642\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T10:12:22","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T10:12:22","slug":"new-self-imposed-property-taxes-could-fund-national-citys-downtown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/482642\/","title":{"rendered":"New self-imposed property taxes could fund National City&#8217;s downtown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A firm leading the creation of assessment districts across San Diego County is now getting closer to establishing one in National City.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These types of districts are voted in by property owners of a geographically defined area where they agree to tax themselves to fund maintenance and upgrades beyond what a city provides.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">National City officials last month agreed to move forward with the firm <a href=\"https:\/\/newcityamerica.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New City America Inc.<\/a> on creating a district in the city\u2019s downtown area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marco Li Mandri, head of the firm, will return to councilmembers with a plan at a later date.
