{"id":482817,"date":"2026-10-02T14:30:07","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T14:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/482817\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T14:30:07","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T14:30:07","slug":"empty-roach-egg-sack-found-at-north-highlands-nursing-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/482817\/","title":{"rendered":"Empty roach egg sack found at North Highlands nursing home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento County Health Inspectors gave a red placard to a local nursing home after discovering an empty roach egg sack beneath the side of the dishwasher.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, six facilities were cited for health food violations including old rodent droppings on the floor near chicken packaging and shelled eggs stored improperly.<\/p>\n<p>What do these inspections mean?<\/p>\n<p>While a yellow placard signals two or more major violations, these are typically corrected or mitigated during the inspection, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saccounty.gov\/#gsc.tab=0\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sacramento County Retail Food Inspection Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A red placard, however, signals \u201cimminent danger to public health and safety\u201d and suspends an establishment\u2019s health permit until violations are corrected.<\/p>\n<p>This could include, but is not limited to, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/local\/article288124385.html\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">major vermin contamination<\/a>. In contrast, a green placard means a restaurant passed inspection.<\/p>\n<p>The county performs about 14,000 inspections annually and about 97% of establishments pass, spokesman Ken Casparis previously told The Sacramento Bee.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 1% of inspections result in a closure, he said.<\/p>\n<p>These were the results of Sacramento County food facility inspections for Thursday, Sept. 24, through Thursday, Oct. 1.
